The curriculum, as stipulated in the Academy Regulation, is to "train elite officers of the Army equipped with intellectual comptence required for execution of duty and for continuous development, upright value, strong mind, establish a sense of value in the state based on liberal democracy and to cultivate leadership and military spirit of devotion for the nation."

First, KMA, as a special purpose university with the purpose of fostering elite officers of the Army, shall focus on cultivating academic studies and technology to cadets at the same time assisting cadets to be equipped with qualities and personality as a commissioned officer.
Second, it shall respond effectively to the changing social education environment. From this aspect, the introduction of English, emphasis on computer education and differentiated education per subject following the informatization of the society, global trend and changes in high school curriculum is part of such initiative.
Third, the basic science skills have to be fostered to engage in information-war and science-war considering the future war conditions. Lastly, the curriculum has to satisfy the conditions of military studies degree selected as a measure for establishing the specialized professionalism of the Army.
The distinctive features of the education curriculum which has been constituted under such principles can be summarized in a few points as below.

"Integrated Education of the 3 service academis"
As a Stage 1 Course of a joint academy education system, there will be a joint education of the Army, Navy and Air Force Cademies from 2012. This combined education is conducted to increase the togetherness and cooperation of cadets while acquiring baisc military knowledge with regards to the Army and is for the freshman year.

"Introduction of double major system"
Along with a major selected by cadets, they have to complete a major in military studies course that has been selected as a measure to establish the professionalism of the Army.

Military studies major course require the completion of 37 credits in total with 12 subjects and 33 credits including Korean war history, world war history, weapon system, military geography and meteorology, future information war, defensive engineering, war game, military strategy, North Korean Studies, military ethics, military law, national defense management and 2 elective subjects out of 10 subjects including international relations, military revolution, civil military relations. Military studies enable cadets to be equipped with basic military knowledge and foster cadets' potentiality as a mlitary expert in the field of military theory education, hostile view and mlitary science. Under this system, cadets would acquire double degrees in 2 majors upon graduation.
